Part of the display will include two 5’ by 5’ cases that will house artifacts and memorabilia for MajGen Bruno A. Hochmuth, who was the Commanding General, 3d Marine Division, when he died in a helicopter crash in Vietnam, 14 No- vember 1967, and LCpl James E. Swain, Headquarters Battalion, I Marine Expedi- tionary Force (I MEF), who was killed in action while serving with the MEF in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on 15 November 2004 during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. The MCIA is requesting memorabilia including photos, uniform items, or equip- ment from Marines who served with either of these fallen warriors, particularly LCpl Swain. MCIA Request for Artifacts/Memorabilia On 12 March the Secretary of the Navy, Donald Winter, announced that the fourth littoral combat ship (LCS) will be named USS Coronado. Two previous ships have been named for Coronado, CA, a home base for the Navy since 1917, and currently the home of Naval Air Base North Island and Naval Amphibious Base. Designated LCS 4, Coronado will be designed to defeat littoral threats and provide access and dominance in coastal waters for missions such as mine warfare, antisubma- rine warfare, and surface warfare. There are two different LCS hull forms—a semi- planing monohull and an aluminum trimaran—designed and built by two industry teams, Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics. These seaframes can be outfitted with reconfigurable payloads called mission packages. Mission packages are supported by special detachments that will deploy manned and unmanned vehicles and sensors.
