350 (약도 생략) [영문] Japanese-made Cave Encampment at Sesaloreum in Jeju Registered Cultural Heritage No. 310, Built in Around 1943 The Sesaloreum Japanese Bunker in Jeju is a military fortification that was built by imperial Japan during the Pacific War(1937~1945) to support the altteureu Military Airbase, from which air strikes were launched on the Chinese mainland. As the largest of all the airfield bunkers built by imperial Japan across the island of Jeju, the Sesaloreum Bunker is characterized by a maze-like structure consisting of a command post, an arsenal, a torpedo magazine, a fuel depot, barracks, hangars, and a communications room. The airfield bunker system was intended to keep Japanese military resources from observation and airstrikes by the allies during the Second World War. This historic site is regarded as an important part of the wartime heritage left by the Japanese imperialists on Korean soil and a valuable resource for history education.
