Oh Yeongseop/Then aged 20/ Presidential Citation (Mar 1, 2020) [Nohwa, Wando county From Oct. 26, 1922 to Jul. 6, 1987] In his second grade, he organized a secret book club in March 1939 and led the enlightening movement to instill Korean consciousness and preserve and succeed our traditional culture. While engaging in a strike to expel teachers who discriminate against Korean students and to refuse to join Japanese National Labor Unit or Japanese military he got, arrested by Japanese police on November 15 1942 Transferred from Suncheon branch of the Prosecutor's Office to Gwangju District Prosecutor's Office, he got charged with the law for the punishment for acts of violence and the maintenance of the public order act on December 21, 1942 Sentenced to the suspension of the indictment on January 13, 1943, he got released from jail. After Korea's liberation from Japanese rule, he joined the Korea Maritime Affairs Agency, the former Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and became the head of Jeju regional office of the agency.
