82 한국불교학 53집 [Abstract] Kin Fa-ling’s Formation Processes of National Consciousness and His National Movement: Focus on Kin’s Brussels Address (1927) Cho, Jun-Hee Kin Fa-ling(金法麟, 1899-1964), who was a native of Yeong Cheon, Kyŏngbuk, was a fighter for national independence. In addition, after enter ing the pr iesthood in Eunhaesa(銀海寺), he had devoted all his life to promoting Korean Buddhism. After the 1945 Liberation of Korea, he played an active part as an educator, statesman. In short, he was a prominent f igure in the Korean modern history. Nobody never had more tremendous effect in Kin’s forming his national consciousness than did Han Yong-un(韓龍雲), a Buddhist activist for national independence. As a Buddhist monk, he put himself under the guidance of Han Yong-un. He took part in the 1919 Independence Movement of Korea. Afterward, he continued to be engaged in an anti-Japanese str uggle in China and stood at the crossroads of whether to be an army for national independence in Manchuria or to be engrossed in learning. In the end, he chose to be dedicated to learning and went to France to major in philosophy.
